音频对照
Today's English phrase is..."just say no"
In using everyday English, there are many ways to say no.
Some are used in formal situations and some are used in casual situations.
A formal situation is not the same as a business situation, instead a formal situation may be an event like a dinner party or wedding reception. Here are some examples or using the word"no" in each type of situation:
Formal:
"No,not at this time,thank you."
"Thank you, no."
"It's nice of you to ask,but no thank you."
"No,thank you."
"I'm glad you asked, but no thank you."
Casual:
"No." "No way" "Never!"
"Hah!" "Uh-unh." "Not hardly!" "Of courese not!"
"Yeah,right!" "Nope." "Are you kidding?"
"I don't think so!"
"Nah."
Please be careful when using the formal"no"to include "thank you"as that shows that it was all right to ask the question.
It is also important to note that some of the casual ways can be misunderstood and taken differently than you intended them.
If you are not sure how someone will react to these uses of"no", only use the ones you are most familiar with.
