Today's business English idiom is Cut a deal. If you cut a deal, you make a contract or come to an agreement that everybody agrees with. Two companies competing for the same customers a business may cut a deal to share the profits instead of competing with each other.  Some examples:

CNN and FOX cut a deal to broadcast on the same cable systems. 

She cut a deal to give his company and edge in the negotiations.

Cut a deal can also be used outside the business world. And an example might be:  He cut a deal with the press to stay out of the newspapers. This is normal business language anywhere in the English speaking world now.
