睡前英语故事 | The City Mouse and the Country Mouse

       一只城市老鼠来到乡下，他嫌这里住得差、吃得差，极力邀请乡下老鼠和自己一起到城里 住。城市里的条件的确好了很多，但乡下老鼠会喜欢这儿吗？什么才是好的生活呢？

There are two mice. They are friends.

两只老鼠是好朋友。

One mouse lives in the country, and other lives in the city.

一只老鼠住在农村，另外一只住在城市。

After several years the country mouse meets the city mouse.

过了几年之后，农村老鼠遇见了城市老鼠。

He says, “Come and see me at my house in the country.” So the city mouse goes.

他说：“来看看我在乡下的房子吧。”于是城市老鼠就去了。

The city mouse says, “The food is not good. Your house is not good, either. Why do You live in a hold in the field? Come and live in the city with me. You can live in a nice stone house there. You can eat nice food.”

城市老鼠说：“东西不好吃，你的房子也不好。你为什么住在田野的地洞里呢？跟我到城里去住吧。在那儿你可以住漂亮的石头房子，吃很好的食物。”

So the country mouse goes to the house of the city mouse.

因此，农村老鼠就去了城市老鼠的家。

It is a very good house. The food is really nice, too.

房子很好，食物也确实很可口。

But when they are eating, they hear a great noise.

但是正在吃饭的时候，他们听见很大的声音。

They city mouse cries, “Run! Run! The cat is coming!”

城市老鼠叫道：“快跑！快跑！猫来了！”

After some time they come out.

过了一段时间他们出来了。

The country mouse says, “I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. It is nicer to be poor and happy than to be rich and afraid.”

农村老鼠说：“我不喜欢住在城市里，我喜欢住在我田野的洞里。贫穷而快乐比富有但是担惊受怕要好的多。”
