Teamwork has played a pivotal role in solving problems for companies. A case in point is the new flagship racing car ‘LaFerrari.’ In its earlier stage of design, the new car was criticized by professionals because its suspension system was too sensitive and was not as stable as its counterparts. In order to make ‘LaFerrari’ more competitive in the marketplace, approximately two hundred technicians, working over a period of two years, converged their different fields of knowledge to come up with a solution to the problem. In this case, such a problem could not have been solved without the combined efforts of each technician. As one of the interviews with the designer team of ‘LaFerrari’ revealed, technicians held more than 500 group discussions on how to modify the chassis structure in order to make the suspension system more stable. As a result of this teamwork, the performance of the new racing car has been greatly improved as was indicated by the fact that its sales rate tripled in the following year.
