If you cut corners, you're taking short cuts, or finding an easy way to do something that needs to be done more carefully, and you maybe missing important steps and process(进程).
Some examples include:

2.The factory is not safe because they cut corners when they were building it.
It's easy to cut corners in our everyday lives, because we believe we can save time and money. However, the reality is that costs everybody more time and money when we cut corners.
