英文诗歌欣赏：莎翁十四行诗Sonnet 29

Sonnet 29 采取了先抑后扬的手法，诗的前八行描写了诗人内心的自卑、寂寥与自怨自艾，对世态炎凉、生不逢时的无能为力，而第九句开始话锋一转，“think on thee”，一想到“你”诗人便振奋起来，满心欢喜，一扫之前的痛苦，让读者感受到爱给诗人的鼓舞和勇气，同时歌颂了爱的伟大。如同某位学者所说：“如果是友谊，这不是泛泛之交；如果是爱情，也不是逢场作戏。”

Sonnet 29

When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,

I all alone beweep my outcast state

And trouble deal heaven with my bootless cries

And look upon myself and curse my fate,

Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,

Featured like him, like him with friends possessed,

Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,

With what I most enjoy contented least;

Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,

Haply I think on thee, and then my state,

Like to the lark at break of day arising

From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;

For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings

That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

我遭幸运之神和世人的白眼，

便独自哭我这身世的飘零，

以无益的哀号惊动耳聋的青天，

看看自己，咒骂我的苦命，

愿自己能像某人之前途光明，

有某人的仪表，有某人广大的交际，

羡慕这一个的文笔，那一个才气纵横，

对于自己的这一份最不满意；

但是这样想来想去，几乎轻蔑我自己，

偶然想起了你，那时节的我

恰似破晓时云雀从地面飞起

在天门引吭高歌。
