学习英语词汇中，我们经常会遇到很多看是非常简单，但是学习来却是千变万化的单词，“catch”就是这么一个，它既可以作名词又可以作动词，下面我们就来学习一下这些用法吧！

1. 抓住、接住；接球游戏

单词 catch 最常用的含义是“抓住、接住某物”。除此之外，catch 做名词还可以指“两个或以上参与者相互掷球的游戏”。

例句：

Who will catch the wedding bouquet?

接住新娘捧花的人会是谁呢？

I caught the ball and threw it back to my friend.

我接住了球，并扔回给了我的朋友。

My son loves to play catch with his dad.

我儿子很喜欢和他爸爸玩接球游戏。

2. 逮住（人）；捕获（动物）；捕鱼量

Catch 的第二个意思是“抓住、逮住想要逃跑的人或动物”。比如罪犯、猎物等。Catch 还有“捕鱼量”的意思，这里做可数名词。

例句：

The suspect was caught within two hours of the crime.

嫌疑犯仅在罪案发生两小时内就被逮捕了。

Ms Anderson taught us how to catch and release wild butterflies.

安德森女士教给我们怎样捕捉和放生野蝴蝶。

You can get great catches in that river on a warm summer’s day.

3. 撞见、发现

英语搭配 catch somebody doing something 的意思是“撞见、发现某人正在做不好的事情”。我们还可以使用“You wouldn’t catch somebody doing something”这个句型表示“别指望某人会做某事”的意思。

例句：

I was caught eating from the fridge in the middle of the night.

那天夜里，我从冰箱里拿东西吃的时候被撞了个现行。

Lily was caught cheating during the exam.

莉丽考试作弊时被抓到了。

4. 赶乘；赶上

我们用 catch 来指“赶乘交通工具”或“赶上某个活动、事情”。比如“赶巴士 catch a bus”、“赶火车 catch a train”等。

例句：

Sorry, I have to go and catch the next train home.

对不起，我得去赶下一班火车回家。

Hurry up! Don’t you want to catch the opening act?

快点！你难道不想赶去看第一幕吗？

5. 患（病）

Catch 有“染上、患疾病”的意思。比如“感冒”是“catch a cold”，“得病 catch an illness”。

例句：

We are prone to catching coldsbetween seasons.

我们更倾向于在季节交替时患感冒。

6. 缠住、卡住

当我们想表达“钩住、缠住、卡住”时，也可以使用“catch”。

例句：

Be careful not to get your hair caught when you get out of the car.

在下车时小心别把头发缠进去。

7. 卷入、陷入

固定短语“get caught up in”的意思是“意外地被卷入某件事、被某事缠身”。

8. 听见

我们还可以用单词 catch 指“听见、听清楚”。

例句：

Could you repeat that? I didn’t quite catch you there.

9. 撞上

当我们想表达“身体的某个部位撞上某处”时，也可以使用 catch。

例句：

搭配“catch fire”的意思是“失火、着火”，在这里单词“catch”是及物动词。
