1. above, over都可表示“在…之上”。above一般表示“在上面，高于”，不一定垂直； over表示在…正 上方,强调垂直在…之上。

A big apple hangs over me.

在我的头顶上悬挂着一只大苹果。

There are many apples hanging above me.

在我的上方悬挂着很多苹果。

2. above只表示上下位置，而over则表示“越过，通过”以及“笼罩，盖起来”或 “遍及全面”的意思。
